Editing

One block editor for pages, posts, templates and components, with shared design, content and interaction settings.

On this page

Every rich content field in Lettern is a tree of blocks: text, headings, images, boxes, sections, buttons, repeats and forms. Pages, posts, templates and components use the same live block editor, block catalog and inspector. There is no collection editor-type setting.

Edit text directly in the rendered blocks, insert content between sections or inside compatible containers, and use Outline to navigate the structure. Select a block to open Content, Design and Interact. Layout and data blocks are available alongside prose blocks; an article is not limited to a smaller catalog.

The editing surface uses the site renderer, so the real template, styles, data and layout are visible while you work. Preview, in the More menu, checks interactions without editing affordances. Templates control the layout: an article can use a narrow reading column while a landing page uses a wider composition.

There are never more than two side panels. For more room, hide the admin's navigation with ⌘\; it stays hidden until you bring it back. The builder starts with it folded away, and the same button and key bring it out showing the outline, with a way back to the list, the way it shows the settings on a settings page. The right sidebar starts with the entry's details tab, followed by History and plugin panels. Saving, authorship, publishing, comments and error recovery work the same way across collections.

Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) to find content or run a command. Exact title matches come first, followed by slug and partial title matches, then matches in the content. Use the arrow keys to choose a result and Enter to open it.
